Is Joy the Fuel for your Priorities?

As we reach the single digit countdown to the most popular holiday in the Western hemisphere, I take a step back and just curiously watch the average population frantically go about their shopping, cleaning and cooking in hopes of finally achieving that perfect Christmas season.

As I watch the stress and tension I can’t help but wonder, what are these people’s priorities? What fuels their endeavors? What brings them joy? They must get something out of so much self inflicted stress or else why would they subject themselves to that?

I came up with 2 options as their fuel: true love or obligation/guilt. In my sessions with clients I see that in many instances both factors are at play. So invite you to take a deep look inside and give yourself the gift of discernment of which of these factors come into play when carrying out your priorities. Do you feel that you “have to” do something because your family or friends expect you to? Or do you do it because it brings you joy? It’s OK to answer both, however, how much weight do guilt or obligation play into it?

I’m no big advocate of New Years resolutions since nobody should wait to a certain time of the year to change their life for the better. Since we’re in that season anyway I invite you to make Joy your resolution, seek to eliminate guilt, obligation or any other feelings less than true love be your priority and motivator for all of your actions.

You can do this anyway you feel called; you can use affirmations, meditation, EFT, pure will power, or all of the above and more. Just remember to be gentle with yourself when emotions other than love, peace and joy come up, know that you’re releasing a pattern that may have been a part of your life for a very long time, just love yourself and the pattern for the gift it has given you and focus back on your goal.

I encourage you however to not let this be a typical resolution that gets forgotten and abandoned within the first month of the year, taking the small step of just checking in once a day every day before retiring for the evening will enable you to further anchor joy as your being and will provide you with the tangible results already accomplished to enable you to continue seeking joy.

Know that all of the tools to embrace Joy in your life are within you, if you feel that you need additional support, I offer various loving services to assist you in your journey at www.joyisyourchoice.com.
